Critical Warnings
DO NOT proceed if Johnny 5 is conscious and communicative. He is self-aware and capable of emotional response.
Disconnecting systems improperly may result in:
- Data loss (memory / personality wipe)
- Defensive countermeasures activation
- Ethical violations (seriously — this is basically a person)
Required Tools
- Precision screwdriver set (metric & micro)
- Magnetic bolt tray
- Insulated wiring tools
- Portable power isolator
- Diagnostic interface terminal (NOVA Robotics compatible)
- Anti-static gloves
STEP 01
Power Isolation
- Locate the primary battery housing (rear torso compartment).
- Engage manual override switch (left side panel).
- Disconnect:
- Main power cable RED
- Secondary capacitor bank YELLOW
- Wait 60 seconds for residual charge to fully dissipate.
Johnny 5 may attempt to negotiate or stall during this step.
STEP 02
CPU & Cognitive Core Access
- Remove head casing — 4 rear bolts + 2 under jaw hinge.
- Lift top cranial plate carefully.
- Identify:
- Central processing unit (CPU core)
- Neural learning array (experimental)
- Disconnect fiber-optic data lines in sequence:
- BLUE — Sensory input
- GREEN — Motor control
- WHITE — Learning matrix
Improper sequence may corrupt memory permanently.
STEP 03
Optical System Removal
- Detach dual optical units from head mount.
- Disconnect micro-servos controlling eye articulation.
- Label connections for reassembly: L-OPT left optic R-OPT right optic
STEP 04
Arm & Manipulator Disassembly
- Remove shoulder bolts — high torque required.
- Disconnect hydraulic assist lines.
- Detach:
- Right manipulator (multi-tool claw)
- Left manipulator (precision grip)
Tip: Each arm contains independent processors — handle separately.
STEP 05
Mobility System
- Elevate chassis using a support stand.
- Remove tread assemblies:
- Left track
- Right track
- Disconnect drive motors and suspension mounts.
STEP 06
Torso & Internal Systems
- Open central chassis panel.
- Remove:
- Servo control hub
- Audio processing unit (speech system)
- Battery housing (if not already removed)
- Carefully extract wiring harness — document all routing before removal.
STEP 07
Final Frame Breakdown
- Separate upper torso from base frame.
- Remove structural supports and brackets.
- Sort components into:
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Cognitive systems
Post-Disassembly Checklist
- Label all components clearly
- Store CPU and memory modules in static-safe containers
- Back up any recoverable data immediately
- Document all steps for potential reassembly
